How It Works

Using Wash & Co is quick and simple. Our modern self-service machines are easy to use, with cash and contactless payment available.

1. Choose the Right Machine Size

Select a machine based on the size and weight of your load:

  • Small machines: up to 20kg – everyday washes
  • Medium machines: up to 30kg – larger household loads
  • Large machines: up to 40kg – duvets, bedding, bulky items

Please do not overfill machines — clothes need space to move for an effective wash.

2. Load Your Laundry

  • Check all pockets are completely empty
  • Ensure all items are fully inside the drum
  • Make sure nothing is trapped in the door seal

Important: Items caught in the door seal can cause leaks.

3. Add Detergent & Conditioner

You may use your own detergent and fabric conditioner.

  • Standard detergent – main detergent compartment
  • Pre-wash detergent – for heavily soiled items only
  • Liquid detergent – use the liquid detergent compartment
  • Fabric conditioner – conditioner compartment only

4. Select a Wash Programme

Choose a programme suitable for your laundry:

  • 60°C – heavily soiled items
  • 40°C – everyday washing
  • Cold wash – delicate items
  • Fast wash – lightly soiled loads

Typical wash time is approximately 20–30 minutes.

5. Pay & Start

  • Cash and contactless payments accepted
  • Insert coins or present your card
  • Press START to begin your wash

6. Drying Your Laundry

Once washing is complete, transfer items to a dryer.

  • Do not overload dryers
  • Check garments are suitable for tumble drying
  • Remove laundry promptly when finished

Important Usage Rules

  • Do not wash underwired garments – wires can damage machines
  • Do not use dyes or tints
  • Do not wash horse blankets
  • Only wash items suitable for machine washing

Unattended Use & Busy Periods

Wash & Co is mostly unattended.

  • Please be present when your cycle finishes
  • During busy periods, completed washing may be removed to allow others to use machines
  • We cannot accept responsibility for items removed after cycles end

Opening Hours & Closing Times

  • Entry doors lock before closing time
  • Please ensure all washing is finished and you leave promptly
  • Alarm systems are heat and movement sensitive

Breakdowns & Faults

  • If a machine fails, please complete an Out of Order card
  • Place the card in the wall box provided
  • A member of staff will be in touch

Machines are maintained weekly. In the event of a fault, we aim to resolve issues as quickly as possible.

  • 24-hour CCTV in operation
  • Public Wi-Fi available
